Marissa Alma Nick

WRITER / ARTIST / ACTIVIST

Marissa Alma Nick is a queer author, screenwriter, and former choreographer who utilizes the power of narrative—whether through movement, prose, or film—to amplify voices that are seldom heard. After founding the all-female Alma Dance Theater and creating immersive performances centered on women’s lived experience, Marissa shifted into writing to articulate the inner lives of survivors, creatives, and those living between boxes. Her debut novel, Rebel In Venus, is a self-published success: a gripping, award-winning story of two women navigating trauma, love, identity, and redemption in one unforgettable night. The book earned praise as “a gripping and heartfelt portrayal” of vulnerability and survival.

Expanding her artistic vision, Marissa is now writing her first feature-film project—a trilogy currently in its early stages of production—bringing her fierce commitment to mental health, queer identity, and women’s empowerment into the cinematic realm. Through every medium, she invites readers and viewers to live free of shame, claim their narrative, and find possibility in their truth.
